When you ask Malkath the tree man about the Hex Symbol, he says:

"The symbol on the ground shows your mastery of each element. When you have
achieved complete mastery, you will see this symbol change. You can see your
progress if you look within - at your seculorum."

Now I've got the seculorum, and I've balanced the five points as equally
apart as possible. The only imbalance I can see is the size of the radius of
each sector. Spirit and water are touching the edges of the spinning area.
Earth is a little behind this. Air and Fire are halfway between the edge and
the middle.

I'm very confused about this.

What is is that affects the radius of each element?
Does this represent my progress?
How do I achieve mastery?
Does it have any effect on the game?

All I can find on the internet is info about balancing the elements to
reduce damage taken from opposing sources.

Thanks in advance for any help

All I know about this part of the game is by using spells from the different
elements, fire, earth etc. you can try to balance you power. The seculorom tells
you which element you are using most often.
I don't know if there is a payoff because it's very difficult to gain in some
disciplines.

Which is spirit and water?
The blackish murkish water is that water, or the more blue one?
